Rug Samples

Rug Samples are essential sales tool that each Rug Goddess is required to purchase.

Note: We must pay for each area rug sample from each rug manufacturer, so we pass this cost directly onto our Rug Goddesses.

These samples are used to show customers the quality, true color, texture and pile of the rug before they place their rug order. This saves you and the customer precious time and money by ensuring the rug of their choice is correct for their design project.

There are two ways to purchase rug samples:

Individually (hand selected) or as part of a display package. Each option has certain pros and cons.

Pros of hand picking your samples is the fact you get exactly what you want and can pick from multiple collections and types of rugs from machine made, hand tufted and hand knotted.

Cons of hand picking your rug samples include higher costs since you are more likely to pick different types and styles.

Pros of buying a display rack that comes with samples is that can save money.

Cons of buying a display rack with samples is you are limited to the types of rugs you can select.

Sample sizes

Samples typically come in 18-inch square (18”x18”) or 2'x3' accent rug sizes.

You can purchase as many samples as you prefer but generally, we recommend the minimum to start with 24 - 18-inch squares and about 12 - 2'x3's for a proper presentation to provide your clients. Janice will assist in selecting the samples based on current design trends and where you are located.

Keep in mind the more samples you stock, the higher likelihood you will have in hand what you need to present your customer and ultimately make the sale.

Rug Sample Fees

Rug samples vary in cost because of the rug type, size and region these samples are being shipped from. For example, a machine made 18” rug sample cost less to manufacture and ship vs. a hand-knotted or hand-tufted rug which is handmade, much thicker and heavier which cost more to produce and ship.

How many samples do you need?

Again a good starting point is twenty-four 18” samples and at least twelve 2'x3's. Additionally we offer complimentary color swatches of most broadloom material which are typically about 6”x6” inch in size.

Remember our #1 goal is to make sure you are successful in not only helping customers find the right rug but also our Rug Goddesses are successful at growing their business.

Display Racks

While not required, if you have a studio, you might want to consider purchasing a display rack or two to store your rug samples. Especially if you have a showroom.

We recommend three types of display racks:

This rug display Includes (50) 18" samples w/50 clips.

Note: As you can see these wall hangers are simple in design. You could save some money by making your own wall display and buying the rug hangers separately but then you would have to purchase your samples separately.

There are several to choose from on Amazon here.
