Buyer Beware – Poor Shipping Practices Are Rampant!

Beware of Online Retailers Shipping Practices!
The other day I was out at a client’s home, and he was telling me how before finding Rug Goddess he had ordered a couple rugs through one of the discount sites that a lot of people use (not going to say which, but you can probably figure it out).
He ordered a larger area rug for his living room and a round rug for his adjoining sitting area that were both machine-made rugs. He was so surprised when he received them to find they were both folded up in a tiny square box, instead of rolled as they should have been.
When he proceeded to unroll them, they had roll marks throughout the rugs and the serging (edging) on the rugs was twisted and would not lie flat due to the way it had been shipped. The rugs were basically ruined. Nevertheless, he returned both rugs and contacted us.
When I started in the rug business nearly twenty years ago it was “Area Rug 101” to never fold a rug that is tufted or machine made because it would ruin the rug. The only rugs you can fold to ship is a finer hand-knotted rug or a flatweave/Kilim rug (blanket style rug).
As everyone knows in recent years the cost of shipping has skyrocketed and the way some of these huge online only retailers can sell their products as cheap as they do, initially depends on how they ship the product to you.
Just be aware that Rug Goddess will never sacrifice the integrity of the product to make a little more profit, our rugs are rolled and shipped correctly.
We truly care about the way your rugs look in your home and not just how fast we can push product out the door to make a quick buck. It's our goal that the rugs you purchase from Rug Goddess look amazing in your home.
